Income & Financial Requirements for UK Spouse Visa: A Simple Guide

One of the first things you will have to prove is if you’re income and wealth eligible for a UK Spouse Visa 2024. This is so you and your wife can both live independently without any state money. Here, in this tutorial, we will simplify the cost of a UK Spouse Visa.

How Much Income Is Required For a UK Spouse Visa?

The UK does not give you a Spouse Visa unless you have a certain minimum income. This gives you and your spouse money to make ends meet in the UK.

Minimum salary is £18600 a year. If you have kids, the income you need goes up:

Per child: £22,400/year for 1 child.

With two children: £24,800 per year.

If you have more children: Contribute £2,400.

That means if you’re applying with kids, your sponsor (the partner in the UK) has to earn more to meet the additional financial standards.

And How Will You Fulfill the Budget?

The income must be met in different ways:

Salary from Employment

Your first is with a steady job. You will have to bring proof of income like payslips and bank statements.

Self-Employment

You can get the figure by taking your business earnings as the requirement if you’re an independent contractor. You’ll have to provide your last 12 months’ tax return and business accounts.

Savings

If you make less than the minimum income, you can cover it through savings. Savings: The minimum balance required is £16,000 in your account.

Savings to get the income threshold based on how much you earn less than the minimum. For instance, if you make £1,000 less than the threshold you’d have to save £6,000.

Other Income

You can also include this in your income total if you get other income like rent or pensions. The income must be supported by you.

Acceptable Evidence of Income

You’ll have to bring in the following documents to show proof of income:

Last 6 months’ payslips Please note:- It’s a company wage that needs to be deposited on the account.

Bank statements showing salary payments

Tax returns (if self-employed)

Copy of the official letter from your boss confirming your salary.

Certificate of savings (bank account for last 6 months)

What If I Don’t Have the Funds?

We’re accepting Co-Sponsors who can’t provide income based on salary, savings, or other sources of income. The opposite is true; if another person (such as a relative) can lend your application to demonstrate they can afford it, they can.

But the UK Home Office does not play around with the funds, so you’ll want all your documents in order. If you don’t qualify, you risk denial or visa refusal.

Additional Financial Considerations

Staying in accommodation: You will need to demonstrate that you and your partner will stay in a suitable room in the UK. This could be an apartment, house or yours you are renting. You may have to bring a rental agreement or proof of homeownership.

Public Funds: The UK Spouse Visa won’t enable you to be dependent on public funds (government subsidy). This means your income taxes need to verify that you can make ends meet and your wife without help.

Income & Funding: UK Spouse Visa income and finances are complicated, but you should still be able to make it as long as you can show that you qualify for the lower income/spending limit. Whether you are not sure if you have the financial means, or don’t know how to compile all the documents required, Law and Visas is here to guide you and help.
