Former President Donald Trump has won a second term in the White House, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in a historic election marked by unexpected events and fierce competition. Trump’s victory marks a significant comeback after one of the most intense election cycles in recent history.
Vice President Harris joined the race more than a hundred days ago after President Biden’s withdrawal from the race after securing the Democratic Party’s nomination. Even while Harris covered much ground in her high-energy campaign, the incumbent triumphed in crucial swing states to gain the 270 electoral votes required, these being North Carolina, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. Its win in Wisconsin, a state Mr Biden narrowly won in 2020, contributed decisively to its victory.
Earlier this morning, Trump spoke to his supporters in West Palm Beach, Florida. “Thank you all very much. ‘This is an incredible movement, one like no one has seen before,’ he added. “It has been described by its leaders as being the greatest political movement of all time.”
Trump went on to call this new chapter a “golden age for America,” thanking voters for their support. “I feel honored to serve as the 47th president,” he continued.
With this victory, Trump begins a new term, pledging to focus on security, economic growth, and a brighter future for the country.
