  • Housing: You need to stay in acceptable housing in the UK which is not overcrowded and which is public health and safety compliant. The house needs to be comfortable for you and your dependent children (if any).

English Language Requirements: You should prove that you know English, you achieve this through:

  • Pass an English test (A1 level if it is your first time, or A2 if you are renewing)
  • Origin from an exempt country under the exception rule.
  • Being over 65 years old
  • An English-language degree or equivalent with an English course of study.

How to Apply for an FLR M Visa

  • Fees to Pay: There is an application fee for FLR M of £1,048 per individual. Then there’s the immigration health surcharge of £624 per year (£470 for children).
  • Pre-book Biometric Test: Pre-book a biometric test at a UKVCAS office to get your picture and fingerprints taken. This is the biometric process.
  • Meet at Biometric Appointment: Go to the appointment and enter your biometric data.
  • Upload Documents: Upload documents to submit your application. You’ll get a list of exactly what documents you’ll have to submit to the UKVI. Several papers can be brought in when you go for your biometric appointment, too.
  • FLR M application process usually takes 6-8 weeks. You can opt for the super-priority service (£800) which, if you need a decision faster, will provide you with one working day’s decision for an extra charge.
