ETIAS Requirements; Traveling to Ireland
Ireland, while a European country, operates under its own visa policy for foreigners. Therefore, if you are visiting Ireland, you will not need authorization. However, you may need to apply for a short-stay visa if your travel plans involve visiting other member states.
How long does it take to get an ETIAS approval
Most ETIAS applications are processed quickly, with many approvals granted within minutes of submission. However, travelers can expect to receive a decision on their application within 96 hours (4 days) in most cases.
In some instances, if additional information is required or if the application is flagged for further review, the processing time may extend to up to 30 days. Therefore, it is advisable for travelers to apply for ETIAS well in advance of their planned travel dates, ideally at least 96 hours before departure.
ETIAS Requirements; Entering the EU and Schengen Area
An ETIAS authorization grants you access to the entire Area, including the four EU countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, and Romania) that are expected to join soon. This means you can enter any EU or country during the three-year validity period.
It’s important to note that having authorization does not guarantee entry into these countries. The final decision rests with the border authorities of the respective country.

For example, if your itinerary includes Germany, Belgium, and Austria, and you specified Germany as your first stop, you must enter Germany before visiting the other countries. After that, you can travel freely within the Schengen Zone for up to 90 days. This rule applies to all trips within the three-year ETIAS validity.
